Recently, the importance of non-pharmacological therapies for dementia has come to the forefront. Aromatherapy/massage therapy with lavender essential oil has been found to have positive results in improving cognitive function in many Alzheimer/Dementia patients.  For example, a regular program of aromatherapy hand massage with lavender oil is effective in calming emotions and aggressive behavior of the elderly with Alzheimer's type of dementia.
