Folgate is a lavender industry standard that has been around for 100 years and maybe more.  This variety has been used in culinary and medicinal uses since its debut.  It is a midsize plant (2ft x 2ft) and is somewhat compact.  The fragrance is pleasant and mild compared to the boastful varieties.  With 8-10 inch stems its use in crafts is exceptional.  The spikes show off vibrant light blue/violet flowers.  Folgate is an early bloomer, so we usually see these lovely blooms beginning in March and enjoy into fall in the Central Valley of California.

Grows in zones 5-9 and can be used in all things lavender.

Lavender Fresh Farm grows about 120 of this variety and harvest specifically for culinary buds.
