Learn About Our Lavender

Lavender Fresh Farm in Fresno, California has 91 varieties of lavender, over 15,000 plants.  Of these 91 varieties, 61 are what we call "Research" plants that owner Richard is experimenting with to see how they grow in our Central Valley climate, and to learn more about the fragrance, color, and if they are easy to propagate.

Our farm has 68 Varieties of English Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia), 12 of these variety we use for producing culinary buds, essential oils, and bouquets.

On our farm we also have 16 varieties of Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) which is a hybrid lavender of Lavandula Angustifolia & Lavandula Latifolia.  These hybrid varieties are favored as high oil producers and most have long stems that are ideal for bouquets.  Lavender Fresh Farm uses 13 of these Lavandin varieties for producing essential oils and bouquets.

Five varieties on our farm fall outside the categories of English Lavender and Lavandin.  These are: Dentata, Stoechas, Ginginsii, Chaytorae, and Viridis.
