Gros Bleu is a Lavandin that is considered to be the very best of all the Lavandula x intermedia. This lavender is more compact than 'Grosso' but with equally darkly colored flowers and has a light, clean lavender fragrance with less camphor than Grosso and other Lavandin varieties.  At maturity this lavender is a large shrub at 3ft x 3ft that requires adequate spacing for the stems to spread out.  When grown in full sun, the plant has silver-gray foliage that turns a distinctive Lavender color in winter.  Its flower spikes are re-blooming, so don't deadhead 'Gros Bleu' until the first frosts of fall.

Lavender Fresh Farm has about 120 Gros Bleu plants that we grow and harvest primarily for fresh bouquets, essential oil, and dried craft buds (sachets, soaps, etc).  When the bouquets are dried this variety tends to shed more than other varieties.
