However, the essential oil produced is high is camphor and is used mostly in the soap and cleaner industries. 'Grosso' is the most commonly grown commercial lavandin in the world with more than 70% of lavender oil coming from this variety. Grosso is considered a large lavender (3ft x 5ft) and is silvery in foliage and pungently fragrant.
Here in the Central San Joaquin Valley Grosso is one of the first Lavandins to bloom. Extensively used in landscaping, rock gardens, essential oil, bouquets, crafts. Lavender Fresh Farm has about 300 of the Grosso variety that we harvest exclusively for essential oil. The oil from Grosso is sold to friends and local crafters for use in making soaps and other crafts.
