True 'Hidcote.' An important point because there are many Hidcote varieties. Hidcote seeds have been sold around the world for decades. Flowers that produce seeds can be cross pollinated and corrupted. True Hidcote is reproduced via plant material, not seeds. A midsize plant (2ft x 2ft) with green foliage and strongly fragrant. Stems (6-8 inch) support spikes of dark violet flowers. We use Hidcote primarily for culinary use, but the stems can also be used for dried bouquets as well as crafts. We enjoy the bloom from spring through fall with proper plant management.
Lavender Fresh Farm grows about 240 of these plants harvested specifically for culinary use.
